Jordan Klepper of The Daily Show uses things Donald Trump has actually said and made a Rank Materialistic Hip Hop song to them. And it's brilliant. For those who are not.in on the joke (I don't think I'm friend with anyone that wouldn't be), this is NOT a representation of real hip hop. This is what happens when something meaningful, purposeful, and significant is turned into something that caters to the lowest common denominator on an intellectual scale. It's so ironically a parody of everything that wrong with this country... and the current music industry.
Over the course of his presidential campaign, Donald Trump has often come under fire for his controversial quotes. In fact, The Daily Show found his sound bites so memorable that they strung them together in a rap video called “They Love Me.”
Performed by Black Trump (aka Daily Show correspondent Roy Wood Jr.) and his hype man Jordan Klepper, the resulting clip transforms the business magnate into a hip-hop mogul. He pops bottles on a golf course; parties at a mansion; and showers himself in money, women, and cigars, all while spouting some of his real-life one-liners.
“I have a great relationship with the blacks / Politicians all talk and no action,” Trump raps. “I was down there at 7/11 / I spent almost nothing on my run for president / All the women flirted with me on The Apprentice / If Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps I’d be dating her.”
Ahead of the video’s debut, host Trevor Noah questioned “senior Trump analyst” Wood about whether the tycoon was a fit for the Oval Office. “Honestly Trevor, Trump doesn’t belong in the White House. [He] belongs in a rap video,” Wood explained. “Everything Trump says is straight out of a rapper’s play book. He brags about his money, he’s disrespectful to women, and there’s always fights at his concerts… He’s just saying stuff the same way rappers just say stuff. Do you really think Jay Z has 99 problems?”
I think this is my new favorite thing ever.
