Affirmative action does not take anything away from anybody! it merely gives people of a color a chance to get what they deserve when they would otherwise be looked over for.
I am pretty sure that Malia got in because she is a smart young woman. Do i think that being the child of the president helped? Absolutely, but that doesn't take away from her accomplishments and her own merit. AND WHO CARES IF SHE TAKES A GAP YEAR! everyone is different. Maybe she wants to enjoy life before she dives into the the insane world of undergrad studies. Everyone tells you how you should finish school when you can, but college is a tough place and sometimes you just need a break from school to refocus on your priorities.
Malia does not have to explain herself for taking a gap year, she's not the president! All this nonsense is happening because people are at home being miserable and blaming other people for being where they want to be instead of trying to figure out what they could do to change their circumstances. She's always handled herself with respect and people around her. The Obama family may have been the first black family grace the Whitehouse but his presidency is the most bigoted attacked in the history of America. No time in the history of America has any president been so disrespected and this is because of the colour of his skin. America prides itself in being the land of the brave and home of the free.
